– Please note the new Corona-Rules – see below. –

With the SHIBARI MASTERCLASSES we present excellent contemporary shibari artists from Europe and beyond to the advanced shibari community in Zurich. For the second issue of this new series by beginning of October, we are very glad to invite NICOLAS YOROÏ from Brussels – one of the most experienced and recognized riggers in Europe – who presents his approach
of a minimalist, organic and motion based kinbaku.

— FRIDAY — 1st of October —

Introduction to Yoroï-Ryu

This intro course is designed for people that have a minimum experience and would like to get to know the way I do rope bondage.

My style is more based on body tension and body management than on heavy patterns. A number of choices and postulates are really different to those of other common kinbaku styles. This course aims to give you the key concepts to understand my logic//approch//security.

We will introduce the concepts of Enso and Gyaku Ashi, and – depending on the level of the group and the time we need – my interpretation of Arisue Go no Yoko Tsuri.

During the exercises we will fokus on:

• Posture // Breathing
• Body management
• Rope and body tension
• Distance and rhythm

It’s more about a way to do it rather than to achieve certain patterns. The aim will always be the way to do it and understand the functionality rather then achieve specific result!

The exercises are not only designed for the rigger’s but also for the model’s learning and developement. My style contains a lot of advise and knowledge to support the model in order to widen options and possibilities for different kinds of sessions.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
— single column tie
— some improvisation routine
— stable 2-rope gote / takate kote
— will to improve body awareness for model AND rigger
— the workshop is designed for switching! read more on this below

Minimalist, Organic and Motion based Kinbaku

For a little over two decades, I have explored the rope and mixed it with my other body’s practices: Aikido, Thai massage, System A, Contact Improvisation… This research lead me to express myself in ropes based on a few, but essential and strong, concepts. The aim is always to create a particular moment that is based on rope and where it is at the service of the session. This, generally, lead to a very fluid and organic moment.

I’d like to invite you to learn this way of tying:

A few essentials elements that we may explore are balance, breath, posture, stability, body manipulation, time and space management, motion (for both side), rope and body tension as the main tool to tie, amongst others. Those elements will be presented for both, the person in ropes as well as for the person tying. They will be presented through creative exercises and educational patterns.

Thus the main topics will be:

• Minimalism: How to reduce the rope technique to a minimum to give more space to body skills, corporal consciousness and human vibration?
• Organic approach: Our mind and our body is not square but like nature; very fluid. We are going to work around spirals and the principle of constant adaptation.
• Motion: The focus will not be on the visual result, but rather the way to interact together and to manipulate/move the other, the rope and ourselfes.

The workshop and exercises within are always different. They are meant for the people, the group and my rope partner. Thus, based on the skills, interest and atmosphere in the group, we may do suspensions, half suspensions, strict floor work… I believe that leading a study group should – just as our rope practice – be based on a fluid exchange.

RedRopeTiger

Joining as a model for these workshops is RedRopeTiger, a rope switch with 8 years of experience being tied. Her "home" is Osada-Ryu but she gladly explores other styles frequently. Over the past years she has co-taught a variety of workshops and private classes as model and assistant. Her interests in rope are the interpersonal connection and emotions, as well as playing with varying D/S and S/M components.

SWITCHING & PARTNERWORK
Singles as well as couples and all other constellations can register.
There is switching, i.e. the exercises are mainly repeated so that all participants experience and learn both tying up and being tied up. We also encourage changing partners from time to time. Couples who do not want to change partners and/or switch can stay in a fixed constellation and role configuration of course. Please, if applicable to you, indicate this to us when registering.

DISCLAIMER
The aims of our events are to learn together in a group and support collective processes as well as personal development. Couples and any other kinds of partnerships or constellations are welcome, but you should be aware of and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual.
Gender identity, sexual orientation, age etc. are no criteria in the registration process and the selection of the participants.
It is required that you act with care, communication, consent and caution, and encouraged that you honour your boundaries and self-responsibilities.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring candy speech.
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave, should their behavior be harmful and we reserve the right to do that without explanations – though we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be fully refunded, further claims are excluded.
We do our best to meet different needs, though our resources are limited. Contact us if in doubt.

PRICES & SELLOUT
As a result of the Corona crisis, many people - and Nicolas and luhmen d'arc - suffered significant financial cuts, while others were earning well and could continue to draw their salaries. We would like to give low-earners the opportunity to continue to attend our events with the Soli-Tickets. For the upcoming events, we cordially invite high earners to support the low earners, Nicolas and luhmen d’arc with a higher contribution and thank you in advance for your understanding and solidarity. We are very much looking forward to future joint courses and events.

For PEOPLE WITH PARTICULARLY LOW INCOME - students, artists etc. - there may be the possibility for even lower prices upon request.

Is the event sold out at eventfrog? Write us! Maybe there is a waiting list or another possibility to participate.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations are free of charge up to eight weeks before the start of the course, up to four weeks before the start of the course a cancellation fee of 20% of the course fee is due, up to two weeks before the start of the course a cancellation fee of 50% is due. Later cancellations and refunds of participant fees are not possible. However, participants can find substitute participants who will take the booked places. In case of cancellation by the organizer, the course fee will be refunded in full. Further claims are excluded.

CORONA RULES & PROCEDURES

The official Corona rules allow sports and cultural events indoors again without participant number restriction, without distance requirements and without mask obligation. It is also not compulsory to show a corona certificate in order to participate. But as the pandemic is not yet over, we ask everyone who has not yet been fully vaccinated or recovered to test themselves before coming to the Bondage Jam and only to come if the result is negative.

However, the authorities still require the contact details of all participants to be recorded for the purpose of any necessary contact tracing, so that all visitors can be contacted by the authorities in the event of a subsequently verified infection of participants, so that they can be informed and, if necessary, ordered to undergo tests or quarantine. Please be aware of it to be likely that in the event of a positive case among the participants, the authorities would consider all people participating in the event as so-called "close contacts" and therefore send them into quarantine.

Because of the requested records of the contact data the ticket booking still has to be done via the online platform Eventfrog. There the submission of contact details - for each registered person separately - is mandatory. The collected data will be deleted 14 days after the event.

Visitors are requested to inform the organiser as soon as possible if Covid-19-typical symptoms occur or a SARS-CoV-2 test is positive within a period of 14 days after the event.
